Vol. 386 No. 3

Written Answers. - Shannon River Interests Co-ordination.

51.

asked the Minister for Finance if he intends to set up a Shannon river authority to co-ordinate all the different interests along the River Shannon and its catchment areas.

At the launch of the IFA consultant's report on the River Shannon, in Athlone, I announced the establishment of a forum to co-ordinate the views of the various bodies interested in this great natural watercourse. I am now happy to report that I have since written to the various interests, inviting all concerned to take part. So far the response to my letters has been positive and, in the circumstances, I would hope to be in a position to call the inaugural meeting of the forum shortly.
