Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Housing Allocations.

18.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the many urgent housing applications approved by Galway County Council which cannot be accommodated because of the delay by his Department in notifying housing capital allocations for 1989; and if he will make a decision on the matter immediately.

21.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will indicate for each housing authority the capital allocations which he proposes to make available to them in 1989; in respect of that allocation, the number of new house starts which at this stage are forecasted to commence in 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

32.

asked the Minister for the Environment when sanction will be given to the housing scheme of 13 units at Church Street-Eason's Hill, Cork.

110.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will accede to the request of Mallow Urban District Council, County Cork, to allow them to proceed to tender in respect of a proposed 16 unit development at West End, Mallow, having regard to the fact that there is an urgent need for small type housing in Mallow and that this development would be ideal infill housing in the centre of the town.

118.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Letterkenny Urban District Council, County Donegal have 120 approved applicants on their housing list and that they submitted a scheme of 42 houses to his Department for tender approval almost two years ago; when he will give approval in this case; and when finance will be available to build a further 80 houses to meet the needs of applicants on the urban council's approved list.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 18, 21, 32, 110 and 118 together.

Each housing authority have now submitted their 1989 capital claim for their local authority housing programme. Examination of these claims is now in progress and pending its completion it is not possible to say what new housing schemes will be approved to commence in 1989 or what each authority's capital allocation will be.
