Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Livestock Grant Applications.

63.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason delays of six months are the norm for farmers awaiting inspection for grant purposes in Kerry.

I assume the Deputy is referring to livestock grants. The position is that the closing date for sheep headage and ewe premium applications falls in mid-March and inspections of sheep take place in Kerry and elsewhere between then and the end of June. The closing dates under the various cattle schemes fall in the second half of June and inspections under those schemes take place in both Kerry and the rest of the country between July and December each year. Most inspections under both sets of schemes, therefore, are completed well inside the six months period referred to by the Deputy.
