Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Road Development.

117.

asked the Minister for the Environment his views on road or motorway proposals for Dublin city and county; whether any such proposals are under consideration at present; whether he has had discussions with Dublin Corporation or County Council in this regard; and if the Government have any proposals in this respect.

I am considering the question of future major road improvements (including those in Dublin), in the context of the preparation, by my Department, of—

(a) an operational programme for national roads for the period 1989 to 1993, which will be submitted to the EC Commission before the end of next month for the purposes of the revised EC structural funds, and

(b) a Blueprint for Road Development which will be published by next June. This strategic plan relates to the long-term development of national, regional, urban and county roads.

There are on-going discussions between the Department and the local authorities concerned relating to road developments in Dublin.
