Vol. 386 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cork Regional Hospital.

27.

asked the Minister for Health the total cost of services provided at the Cork Regional Hospital during 1988; the estimated costs for 1989; if he will give the total amount outstanding from (a) in-patient (b) out-patient services (c) private accommodation and (d) semi-private accommodation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total net cost of services provided at the Cork Regional Hospital in 1988 was £26.4 million. A net budget provision of £25.9 million has been made by the board for 1989.

As at 31 December 1988, the total amounts outstanding from charges were as follows:

£

In-Patient Services

232,900

Out-Patient Services

12,500

Private/Semi-Private Accommodation

272,400

517,800

About £120,000 of the £233,000 outstanding on in-patient services extends back to 1987. The board are taking further steps to ensure the recovery of this amount. The board expect that the outstanding amounts in relation to private accommodation which represent about three months billings will be paid.
