Vol. 387 No. 2

Written Answers. - Income Tax on Pension.

63.

asked the Minister for Finance whether a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who is in receipt of a British retirement pension and who is liable to have British income tax deducted from that pension is also liable to have Irish income tax deducted in respect of the same pension.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that under the arrangements for the avoidance of double taxation of income flowing between this country and the United Kingdom, the taxpayer is chargeable to tax only in this country in respect of her British retirement pension. If the taxpayer has suffered double taxation on her pension, any relevant documentation in her possession should be submitted to the Residence Branch of the Revenue Commissioners which will take up the matter with the British authorities.
