Vol. 387 No. 10

Written Answers. - Nuclear Waste Storage.

167.

asked the Minister for Energy if his attention has been drawn to reports of a proposal to store nuclear waste in a cavern under the Irish sea; if he will outline the steps he has taken to convey the opposition of the Irish Government and people to such a proposal; the arrangements which are in place to inform the Irish Government of development in this respect; and if there have been any new developments in this matter over the last number of weeks.

There have been no further developments since my reply to Question No. 151 on 29 November, 1988. The NIREX report referred to in that reply has not yet been published. When it is I will consider its recommendations and possible implications for this country.
