Vol. 388 No. 1

Written Answers. - Exclusion of Apparatus.

50.

asked the Minister for Communications the reason the Broadcasting and Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1988, excluded apparatus operating on a frequency of over three million megahertz from the definition of apparatus for wireless telegraphy; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Three million megahertz is the internationally accepted outer limit of the radio frequency spectrum. All radio equipment currently in use operates well within this outer limit. Beyond this limit one moves into the infra-red area of the radiation spectrum.
