Vol. 388 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Sewage Treatment Plant.

13.

asked the Minister for the Environment if an application has been made for funds for the purpose of providing a new sewage treatment plant at Headford, County Galway; and, if so, when a decision will be made on the application.

78.

asked the Minister for the Environment if an application has been made by Galway County Council to his Department seeking financial aid for the purpose of providing a new sewage treatment plant at Headford, County Galway; and, if so, when a decision will be made on the application.

I propose to take Questions No. 13 and No. 78 together.

Galway County Council submitted this scheme for inclusion under the 1989 Small Schemes Programme. As the cost of the scheme is in excess of the limit of £50,000 which applies to the small schemes programme, it was not possible to consider the proposal under this programme. The council have been advised to resubmit the scheme under the major schemes programme and to prepare the necessary preliminary report. This report is awaited.
