Vol. 388 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Hospital Out-Patients Service.

83.

asked the Minister for Health, in view of the fact that the number of AIDS cases has doubled in the past year and is expected to double again in 1989, if he has satisfied himself that the deferral until October/November 1989 of the opening of the new out-patient facilities in St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8 is satisfactory; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While I accept that current out-patient facilities are inadequate I am not aware of any person with AIDS being denied treatment at St. James's.

The many categories of patient attending St. James's will in the near future be able to avail of the excellent up-to-date facilities in the new out-patient department. Every effort is being made by the hospital authorities to bring these new facilities into operation at the earliest possible date.
