Vol. 388 No. 3

Written Answers. - Inspection of Premises.

43.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason inspectors from his Department visited the premises of Eir Freeze Ltd., Bond Road, North Wall, Dublin 1 recently; the results of the inspection carried out by the officials; if any further action is to be taken as a result of the visit by the inspectors; if so, the action which is proposed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Operations in premises approved for the storage of meat intended for export may only be carried out under the supervision of officials of my Department. On Saturday, 4 March, operations had been carried out at the plant in question under my Department's supervision and finished at about 4 p.m. Later arising from a call from the Dublin Port harbour police as to whether work then in progress at the firm in question had been authorised, officials of my Department again visited the premises. Work in progress was halted and my Department in accordance with standard practice is examining all aspects of the matter.
