Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Driver Testers.

225.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether there are any plans to increase the number of driver testers in Cork in view of the number of people currently awaiting driving tests.

I announced recently that I intend to increase the number of driver testers by 50 per cent i.e. from 50 to 75 by way of redeployment from within the public service. The extra testers will be so deployed throughout the country as to ensure that delays in carrying out tests are reduced to a uniform level as soon as possible.
