Vol. 388 No. 6

Written Answers. - Third Level Education Review.

23.

asked the Minister for Education when she will have the preliminary findings of the Inter Departmental Review Committee on Third Level Education; if she will give an opportunity for interested parties to comment on the preliminary findings before the final report is drawn up; when the final report will be available; and if she intends to make the final report available to the public.

The interdepartmental committee hope to be in a position to furnish a preliminary report by the end of May but before doing so have given an undertaking to discuss their preliminary findings with the committee of the heads of the Irish universities which is an umbrella body representing the universities and the NIHEs.

Depending on the outcome of these discussions it may transpire that the com-mittee's preliminary report may in fact be their final report.

In relation to making the report public I would like to reiterate what I said in the Dáil on 8 December 1988, that when the committee submit their findings to me I will be happy to make those findings public.
