Vol. 388 No. 6

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) School.

46.

asked the Minister for Education the reason St. Peter Apostle Junior School, Neilstown, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 is to lose two experienced teachers for the school year 1989; if, in view of the severe social problems in the area, she will reclassify the school as disadvantaged, if she will sanction the retention of these posts; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The enrolment at this school has been falling for the past five years, with a consequent reduction in staff.

Example:

September 1984 — average enrolment 570; September 1988 — average enrolment 367.

However the circumstances of the school will be considered if posts under the disadvantage scheme become available.
