Vol. 388 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kildare Local Garda Stations.

56.

asked the Minister for Justice, in relation to the Maynooth, Leixlip and Celbridge areas of County Kildare, the role the local Garda stations, where they exist, are likely to play in the areas in the future; when the proposed Garda station in Leixlip is likely to be opened; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Maynooth and Celbridge have their own Garda stations which will continue to service those areas. Leixlip is at present policed from Lucan Garda Station, but it is intended to provide a station in Leixilip which will be a sub-station of Lucan.

It is the intention that the new Leixlip sub-station should be opened as soon as suitable premises can be found. This is a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works and they have not to date been successful in procuring suitable accommodation.
