Vol. 388 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin Corporation Flats Refurbishment.

103.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the serious air pollution in central Dublin, he will approve the corporation's request to instal gas central heating in the refurbished pilot scheme flats in St. Mary's Mansions, Dublin 1.

104.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the second phase of the refurbishment proposals submitted by Dublin Corporation for St. Mary's Mansions, Dublin 1, in order that work can continue when the pilot scheme is completed in May, 1989.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 103 and 104 together.

The corporation's overall proposals for the installation of smokeless heating systems in dwellings being refurbished under the remedial works scheme are awaited. A decision concerning the heating systems in the pilot scheme will be made when the proposals are received. A decision on a further phase of work will be made when the documentation for a revised proposal received this month from the local authority has been examined and the outturn of the pilot scheme has been evaluated.
