Vol. 388 No. 9

Written Answers. - Alleged RUC Shoot-to-Kill Incidents.

48.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government have been informed, through the Anglo-Irish Conference secretariat or through any other source, of the details of disciplinary action taken by the RUC in the cases of 20 of its members in respect of alleged shoot-to-kill incidents in 1982.

The Government were informed through the Anglo-Irish Secretariat of the decision to reprimand a number of junior members of the RUC, and to give a caution to one other, following disciplinary hearings into matters arising from the Stalker/Sampson affair.

The Government have expressed on a number of occasions, including at the most recent meeting of the intergovernmental conference earlier this month, their deep concern about various aspects of the Stalker/Sampson affair.
