Vol. 388 No. 9

Written Answers. - Land Registry Delays.

67.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the fact that applications for registrations at the Land Registry office now take 12 months to complete; and if he will provide the necessary staff to improve this situation.

The position in relation to delays in the Land Registry was outlined in my reply to a Dáil Question on 22 February 1989 — columns 1173-74 of the Official Report.

My Department is having discussions with the Department of Finance concerning the urgent provision of additional staff for the Land Registry. As a result six additional heads of staff took up duty yesterday and two more are scheduled to take up duty in the near future.

A study is at present taking place concerning the on-going staffing needs of the registry.
