Vol. 388 No. 10

Written Answers. - Search and Rescue Review Body.

61.

asked the Minister for the Marine if a meeting of the Search and Rescue Review Body has yet been held; and if so, the attendance at same.

While the conduct of meetings of committees generally are matters for the chairman and members, I can advise that the first meeting of this important committee took place on 7 April 1989.

The Minister of State, and senior officials from my Department, together with myself, met the chairman and members of the committee prior to their inaugural meeting. I would like to assure the Deputy that I have impressed upon the chairman the desirability of proceeding with this matter without undue delay.

I understand that the group have sought submissions from the general public and would draw the Deputy's attention to the advertisement which appeared in the media on 11 April 1989, relevant to this matter.
