asked the Minister for Energy the total cost of the objective set out in the National Development Plan, under forestry, for the years 1989-1993, including (a) the public planting envisaged to double planting levels to 3,000 hectares in 1993, (b) the construction of 750 kilometers of forest roads, (c) the implementation of planned amenity programmes and (d) the marketing programme in connection with increased harvesting in (i) the western region, (ii) the north-western region and (iii) the southern region.

The estimated regional distribution of expenditure of a structural nature set out in the National Development Plan for forestry is as follows: Western Region, £39 million; North-West Region, £46 million; South-West Region, £30 million; South-East Region, £32 million.

asked the Minister for Energy the anticipated revenue to the State resulting from the sale of forest products for the years 1989-1993.

Revenue from the sale of forest products during the period 1989-1993 will be utilised by Coillte Teoranta to offset its operating expenses and will, therefore, not accrue directly to the State.
