The misappropriation of a sum of money from the prison has been notified to the Garda who are investigating the matter. In addition an examination of the prison accounts is being carried out by my Department and the staffing arrangements and procedures for dealing with cash have been revised. No prisoner has suffered any loss as a result of what has occurred.
