115.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce, arising out of Parliamentary Question No. 174 on 12 April 1989, the date on which he received proposals involving the sale-on of part of the operations of Master Meats Limited and Classic Meats Limited; and the number of meat plants which are involved in the proposed sale-on.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the date on which he received notification from Master Meats Limited and Classic Meats Limited under the Mergers, Monopolies and Takeovers Act, 1978; and the date on which he will make a decision in the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 115 and 116 together.

The information requested by the Deputy in respect of the date on which I received proposals involving the sale-on of part of the operations of Master Meats, and the date on which I received notification from Master Meats, was provided in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 76 on 19 April 1989.

I have received no notification or proposals in respect of Classic Meats Limited.

The number of meat plants involved in the proposed sale-on is one.

I am not in a position to say when I will make a decision in respect of the notification referred to by the Deputy as inquiries in this regard are still on-going.
