Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Castleknock, Dublin, Interchange Proposal.

144.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received representations from the Castleknock Community Council regarding the proposal submitted for approval to his Department by Dublin County Council for the construction of a flyover at Park Drive, Castleknock, Dublin 15; if his attention has been drawn to the concern expressed by local residents regarding this proposal; if he favours the holding of an environmental impact study on the proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 26 April 1989, I received representations from the Park Drive (Castleknock) Residents Association expressing concern about a proposal to provide an interchange (flyover, associated roads and ramps) with the Western Parkway Motorway in the vicinity of Park Drive.

Such a proposal was developed by Dublin County Council some years ago. In view of the proximity of a proposed major interchange between the Western Parkway Motorway and the Navan Road, my Department considers that, on road safety grounds, the construction of a further interchange in the vicinity of Park Drive would not be appropriate.
