Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sight Tests.

165.

asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding adolescents under the age of 16 years who are on their parents' medical card and in need of sight tests; if these adolescents are entitled to attend a private optician for sight tests; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In the Eastern Health Board which is presumably the area in which the Deputy is interested eligible adolescents under 16 years of age are examined in the first instance by health board ophthalmologists following which they may be referred to private opticians to have glasses dispensed.
