Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Southern Health Board Report.

166.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received the report of the officer of his Department, whom he indicated in reply to Private Notice Question on 26 April 1989 was being sent to the Southern Health Board to discuss with officers of the board the current major finance problems facing it; the main findings of the report; if he intends to take any action as a result of the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The analysis of the Southern Health Board's financial position referred to indicated that a timing adjustment in the disbursement of cash payments to the board was appropriate because the board did not fully adopt management's original expenditure plans. The adjustment is being made in the context of the existing cash allocation. It does not therefore obviate the necessity for remedial action to be taken to ensure that expenditure is contained within the approved limits.
