Written Answers. - Accountable Management Systems.

75.

asked the Minister for Justice if a Management Advisory Committee and a system of accountable management on the lines envisaged in the 1985 White Paper on the Public Service Serving the Public Better are now in operation in his Department; and, if not, whether he has any plans to introduce such a system.

My Department have a management committee in operation for several years. Under the Department's existing management system specific responsibility is assigned to individual line managers for various functions and for the management of the annual budgets in relation to them. In addition, there is a staff appraisal system in operation under which the performance of individual managers, in relation to their responsibilities, is assessed.
