Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal Awards.

76.

asked the Minister for Justice whether funds made available to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal in 1989 will be sufficient to provide quick payment of outstanding awards; and the likely delay in payment of an award made by the tribunal in April 1989.

I am informed by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal (a) that the £2 million provided in this year's Estimates will not be sufficient to provide quick payment in all the decided cases awaiting payment, and (b) that payments in respect of cases decided in April 1989 are likely to be paid in October 1989.
