Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Accountable Management System.

92.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if a management advisory committee and a system of accountable management on the lines envisaged in the 1985 White Paper on the Public Service Serving the Public Better are now in operation in his Department; and if not, whether he has any plans to introduce such a system.

A management advisory committee comprising the Secretary and Assistant Secretaries is in operation in the Department of Tourism and Transport. The committee review the performance of the Department against established policy and objectives, monitors the Department's expenditure and receipts against budget and ensures a co-ordinated approach to management, organisational and personnel matters.

The Department's information technology plan now being implemented gives priority to the introduction of a computerised financial management system on a phased basis.
