Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Dublin School.

95.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport, in view of the work which is required in order to protect St. Margaret's National School, St. Margaret's, County Dublin against excessive noise from the extension of the runway at Dublin Airport, if he will make available the necessary moneys to the school management in order to make up the shortfall between the amount being provided by the Department of Education and the amount necessary to carry out the work of insulation which is urgently required before the runway is operational.

I am satisfied that it should be possible, on an exceptional basis, to devise suitable arrangements to protect St. Margaret's national school against noise problems arising from the new runway project at Dublin Airport. In this regard I have asked Aer Rianta to contact the board of management of the school with a view to determining an appropriate level of financial assistance towards the cost of insulation for the school to supplement the grant from the Department of Education.
