Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Fóir Teoranta.

119.Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance the write-offs by Fóir Teoranta, since its inception, expressed in present day prices; the steps he is taking to ensure collection of outstanding loans from debtors of Fóir Teoranta; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total write-offs in present day prices by Fóir Teoranta from its inception in 1972 to date is £68.3 million.

As regards the arrangements which will be made to collect outstanding loans, appropriate alternative arrangements for the administration of Fóir's existing portfolio of loans and equity holdings will be made by the end of the wind-up period so as to ensure that the Exchequer investment in the firms in question is protected.
