Vol. 389 No. 5

Written Answers. - Third Television Channel Charges.

22.

asked the Minister for Communications if he will outline his policy in relation to the charges which will apply to the third television channel for the supply of service/equipment to it from RTE; whether he will give an assurance that in the event of a dispute on the level of such charges he will allow the matter to be resolved by independent arbitration; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Because the third TV channel will be distributed by means of cable and MMDS transmission systems I do not anticipate that RTE will be involved in the supply of service or equipment to that channel as provided for under section 16 of the Radio and Television Act, 1988.
