Vol. 389 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Carlow Cultural Village.

88.

asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding the construction of the cultural village for the handicapped to be built at Clashganna, Borris, County Carlow, which has received national lottery funding; and if he will expedite the matter.

The Clashganna Mills Trust, a voluntary organisation, approached my Department and several other Departments and agencies with proposals for an integrated development at Clashganna which would provide, inter alia, residential vocational training courses for disabled people. My Department gave a capital grant towards the purchase of the site. Training facilities for a small number of disabled people are being provided on the site at present but I have no proposals before me in relation to the development of the project.
