asked the Minister for the Environment the total rates support grant provided to each county council and each county borough corporation for the current year; and the amount this represents per head of the population in each such council or corporation area.

The rate support grant allocations for each county council and each county borough corporation for 1989 are set out in the following table. As population is not a factor in the allocation of rate support grants, information in the form requested in the second part of the question is not available in my Department.
