asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to a seminar and exhibition recently organised by the Institute of Engineers of Ireland in association with the Institute of Chemical Engineers (details supplied); whether his Department are studying the papers presented at this seminar; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department were represented at this seminar. The papers presented covered a wide range of topics, including environmental legislation, environmental impact assessment, air pollution, treatment and management of industrial wastes, monitoring and noise. The papers will be taken into account, as appropriate, in the development of policies and programmes in the areas to which they relate.
