asked the Minister for Education, for each of the past five years (a) the number of national schools recognised as disadvantaged for additional staffing purposes and (b) the total number of extra teaching posts sanctioned under the scheme each year; and the number of schools and posts to be included in the scheme for the 1989-90 school year.

The scheme is presently under review in my Department and therefore it is not yet known whether it will be possible to create any extra posts under the scheme for the 1989-90 school year.
