Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Repeat Leaving Certificate Fees.

200.

asked the Minister for Education the present cost to pupils repeating the leaving certificate; and the corresponding fees for (i) 1986 (ii) 1987 and (iii) 1988.

The leaving certificate examination fee for repeat school candidates in 1989 is £100. Where such candidates take one or two subjects only, the fee is £35 or £70, respectively.

Where the parent or guardian of a school candidate repeating the examination is the holder of a current medical card, the ordinary examination fee, £35 in 1989, applies.

A similar situation applied in relation to the 1988 leaving certificate examination.

In 1986 and 1987, school candidates repeating the examination paid the same fees as first time candidates, i.e. £30 in 1986 and £33 in 1987.
