Vol. 389 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Loans.

22.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of local authority and Housing Finance Agency loans approved in the years ended 31 December 1985 to 31 December 1988; the total amount of money approved in each of those years; the total number of loans allocated by private financial institutions under the scheme introduced in 1987; and the total amounts involved.

I refer the Deputy to the Department's "Annual Bulletin of Housing Statistics, 1988" which contains details of the numbers and value of local authority and Housing Finance Agency loans approved in the years in question. Figures supplied by the financial institutions indicate that in 1988 they approved 3,622 loans valued at £67,490,000 to persons complying with the income levels applicable to loans from a housing authority.
