The number of staff taken on in the Department of the Taoiseach, including the cultural institutions under its aegis, on a contract and consultancy basis, including 15 temporary clerical trainees and ten temporary professional assistants, since January 1987 was 46 and one respectively. Contracts of 26 of the above people have since expired.
