Since January 1987, two persons have been employed on a contract basis by the Department of Foreign Affairs—one for a period of 20 days and the other for a period of 19 days. Apart from temporary clerical staff employed in the Passport Office and temporary clerical trainees, seven persons are employed on a contract basis in the offices of the Minister and Minister of State. These include a special adviser, personal assistants, personal secretaries and civilian drivers.
