Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dunshaughlin (Meath) Crime Levels.

66.

asked the Minister for Justice if there has been an increase in the crime levels in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, over the past 12 months; and if so, if there are any proposals to increase Garda surveillance in the area.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that provisional figures indicate that there was a slight increase in the number of recorded indictable offences for the subdistrict of Dunshaughlin in the 12 month period ended 31 March 1989 as compared with the corresponding period ended 31 March 1988.

I am also informed by the Garda authorities that certain measures, including the deployment of mobile patrols operating from Trim and Dunboyne as well as from Dunshaughlin station, have been taken to deal with the situation. The Garda authorities assure me that the position is under review.
