Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

66.

asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Dublin will be called to Temple Street Children's Hospital, Dublin 1, for a tonsillectomy having regard to the fact that the person concerned has been on a waiting list for one and a half years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

67.

asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Dublin will be called to Temple Street Children's Hospital, Dublin 1, for a tonsillectomy having regard to the fact that the person concerned has been on a waiting list for four years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 66 and 67 together. I would like to explain that the admission of a patient to hospital is a matter for the clinical decision of the consultant concerned and the hospital authority. I would suggest to the Deputy that the parents of the patients concerned should return to their general practitioner who would be in the best position to stress the urgency of the case to the consultant concerned.
