Vol. 390 No. 1

Written Answers. - Closure of Gormanston, County Meath, Beach.

30.

asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to public disquiet regarding the closure of Gormanston Beach, County Meath, to the general public on many occasions during the summer because of military exercises being carried out; and the steps he intends to take in the matter.

, Limerick West): I am not aware of any public disquiet relating to the Rifle Range at Gormanston.

New warning signs have been erected to facilitate the public by giving them advance warning that they are about to enter the danger area. When firing is in progress by the military authorities every care is taken to ensure that members of the public are not endangered.

It would not be feasible to relocate the range which has been in use for many years.
