The information sought by the Deputy is readily available in relation to Garda divisions but not districts. The number of cases of alleged rape in which criminal proceedings were commenced by the Garda Síochána and the number of convictions, in the years 1984 to 1987 inclusive, are given for each division in the tabular statement which is being circulated in the Official Report. It is possible that a conviction obtained in one year may relate to a prosecution commenced in a previous year.
