asked the Minister for Justice if he intends to expand the role of local Land Registry offices by the provision of facilities to purchase by way of cash transaction (a) Land Registry maps and (b) land certificates and also to cater for search facilities and the lodging of transfer dealings.

I have no proposals at present for an expansion of the role of local Land Registry offices on the lines mentioned in the question.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of staff employed in each grade in the central office of the Land Registry on (i) 1st January 1987 and (ii) 1st January 1989; and the number of land registry dealings pending on both above dates.
