Vol. 390 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Property.

59.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has received any proposals to purchase from the State, Thorndale House, Beaumont, Dublin 9; if his attention has been drawn to proposals to provide a centre for adult handicapped on this site; the estimated value of the property; if he will make a statement indicating the parties, if any, who are proposing to purchase the site; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department propose to sell 33 acres of land at Thorndale which is surplus to requirements.

The question of purchasing some of the land for use as a centre for handicapped adults was one of the options examined by a committee set up by the Minister for Health but this may now be superseded by alternative proposals.

It is proposed to sell the bulk if not all of the land by public tender and a firm of estate agents has been commissioned for this purpose. To disclose the estimated value of the site at present could prejudice the sale price.
