93.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give some indication as to the process regarding the acquisition of a site for a Garda substation in Leixlip, County Kildare, having particular regard to the fact that several suitable sites have changed hands in the immediate vicinity in the past 12 months despite the intention to acquire a premises; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 92 and 93 together.

The Commissioners of Public Works have to date approached 12 parties in connection with the leasing of a premises for use as a Garda substation. A suitable premises has been identified and negotiations are in progress with the auctioneer who is handling the matter. It is not possible at this stage to state when arrangements for the leasing of the premises will be completed.
