I am aware of local concern about a possible mine development in the vicinity of Croagh Patrick, County Mayo.
There is no application before my Department for a mining facility there. What is taking place in that general area and in many other locations throughout the country is prospecting for minerals, including gold and I am satisfied that prospecting activity has little, if any, impact on the environment.
