Vol. 390 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Cork National Schools.

107.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the new primary school in Dromina, Charleville, County Cork; the reason for the delay in inviting tenders; and when she will allow this project to go to tender.

: My Department had agreed in principle to the provision of a new school in Dromina, Charleville, County Cork consisting of four classrooms and a general purposes room. However, it was not possible for the project to proceed because of the cost which would have been involved. The question of the project proceeding on a modified basis is being considered in the context of the large number of cases on hands and the available capital. A decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when tenders will be invited or a contract placed.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in payment of the outstanding balance of a grant for the installation of central heating at Dreeny national school (details supplied) in County Cork; and if arrangements are being made for payment.

The work undertaken on this project was not completed in accordance with my Department's specifications. Arrangements are being made to have the outstanding balance of grant in respect of the installation of central heating at Dreeny national school, County Cork, paid at an early date.
