asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if higher agricultural officers in poultry plants are qualified to carry out their duties in accordance with an EC directive (details supplied); if so, the State body which examined them; where they did their three months training; and who trained them.

By virtue of their educational qualifications and their post entry practical and theoretical training in the Department of Agriculture and Food, higher agricultural officers under the direct supervision of this Department's veterinary inspectorate are qualified to carry out their duties at poultry plants.
