Vol. 391 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Inland Fisheries Development.

9.

andMr. Pattison asked the Minister for the Marine the steps the Government intend to take in order that the present catastrophic consequences of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1987, may be ended; and if he will outline such procedures as he intends to implement in order that talks between all those concerned may take place.

The difficulties relating to the current angling licensing arrangements are part of the wider issue of the funding of the development of our inland fisheries as an important national resource. I propose as outlined in the agreed programme for government to undertake a process of consultation with interested parties in order to overcome the difficulties. I intend to initiate this process as soon as possible.
